I graduated from ALU in 2011 with a Juris Doctor Degree and started my own law firm (Downtown LA Law Group) that same year. I’ve been a Partner at the Downtown LA Law Group for over 6 years now, which has been my goal ever since I can remember. My primary responsibilities are reviewing new files for litigation and preparing cases for trial. I think ALU really provided me with the skills and confidence that I needed to excel in my current position. Their JD program is light years ahead of anything else available for law students, and I feel that the online model could be the future of law schools.

I graduated from ALU in 2017 with a Juris Doctor Degree while working full-time as an HR executive for one of the nation’s largest aviation and maritime ports in Oakland, CA. With ALU’s support, I became a California licensed attorney-at-law when I passed the bar exam on my first try that same year. I’m especially grateful for ALU’s flexible learning method since without it I wouldn’t have been able to hold such a demanding position while earning my JD. In my current role as an Attorney for Wiley Price & Radulovich, LLP I am able to utilize my expertise representing employers in a union environment, including labor negotiations, changes to existing terms and conditions of employment and/or the effects of those changes, and the meaning and application of labor contract provisions.

ALU’s authority to grant the Juris Doctor (JD) degree, which qualifies graduates to take the California Bar Examination and obtain admission to the practice of law in California, is through registration with the Committee of Bar Examiners of the State Bar of California in the unaccredited distance learning school category. ALU students must pass the California First Year Law Students’ Examination (FYLSX, commonly referred to as the “Baby Bar”) at the end of their first year of study.
